A quarter century of hospitality
The pretty hotel in idyllic parkland
Today we can scarcely imagine Ilshofen without the Flair Park-Hotel– a meeting place for people from far and wide, a place to celebrate, host training events, or simply to relax. The numerous events the hotel team organises each year enrich the social life in Ilshofen and the region. It's hard to imagine that the institution is only 25 years old!
The Flair Park-Hotel was originally a brewery inn, the Brauereigasthof Post in Ilshofen. This inn, situated behind the gate tower, was leased by the local company Bausch+Ströbel, in order to accommodate customers and visitors from around the world directly in Ilshofen. The inn was of course open to everyone: family celebrations and club meetings were held here and the inn often provided catering for events in the adjacent town hall.
In the 1980s, it became increasingly apparent that the hotel was no longer sufficient for the requirements of modern guests. Should the Brauereigasthof Post be modernised? Or perhaps Bausch+Ströbel should establish its own guesthouse for its customers? The farsighted decision of the company owners was different: they planned and built a modern, comfortable hotel, which was designed for the customers and business partners of Bausch+Ströbel, but which also offered ideal conditions for conference guests and holiday-makers, a place for events, or simply served as a meeting place for people from near and far.
In the summer of 1986, the first construction machines arrived at the brownfield site. The beginning of 1989 saw the topping out ceremony, and in the following months, good progress was made on the interior, so that by 1990 the first guests could be welcomed. However, the official inauguration was only in 1991, by which time the third floor was finished. "The effort was worth it," said the Mayor, Roland Wurmthaler– voicing also the opinion of many guests of honour who were inspecting the hotel at that time. Since then, there have been continual changes to the hotel, as it has adapted to guests` needs: for example, the Café Strasbourg became the Bajazzo, which is today popular with everyone; the bedrooms have been constantly modernised and just recently, the park was re-designed. The next big change on the horizon is an extension of the Wellness area.
